Exciting news! Horsleys of Gainsborough will soon be opening a new bedroom superstore in Gainsborough market square. The building, previously occupied by Savers, will become our new home for beds, bedroom furniture and mattresses, increasing our prominence in the heart of town. An area currently supported by a multi-million pound regeneration initiative by the council, sympathetic repairs to the shop front will be made to enhance the building in its historic setting, with a full renovation of internals to be completed over the coming months. It’s huge news for us, and we hope you’ll support us in the next steps of our journey.

On confirmation of the relocation, Councillor Trevor Young, Leader of West Lindsey District Council, said he was delighted to see Horsleys moving into the building. "With the ongoing investment and work taking place as part of the cinema development, our aim is to attract further investment and business into the area, and with Horsleys moving, this is exactly what has happened. If we continue to do what we’re doing here, over the next few years we will see the town centre develop in a way we're trying to achieve."

Jasper Caudwell, from Pygott and Crone, the agent that handled the sale, said: "We are delighted to see Horsleys of Gainsborough take up ownership of this property. The deal cements renewed optimism for retail premises in the local area and works towards re-stimulating Market Place, alongside the multi-million pound cinema and leisure complex on the neighbouring site."

Gainsborough is currently undergoing a transformational town centre regeneration project, including a £9 million development of a four-screen cinema complex, restaurant, retail units and additional car parking provision. Supporting local business with pride and expertise, our fitters recently installed new flooring over at the Ferry House, a delightful pub and restaurant that’s a favoured spot for many. Covering nearly two hundred square metres, we supplied and installed laminate flooring and carpet throughout the refreshed dining area, with commercial grade underlay for durability and noise reduction.

Wilton carpets in a tartan pattern were laid in multiple areas, covering a total area of 70 square metres, providing softness and more intimate spaces, aligning with the traditional charm and character of the property.

The main dining area and central lounge, being high traffic areas, were fitted with Furlong Urban laminate flooring, not only enhancing durability but simplifying maintenance and cleaning, ensuring that the room looks pristine and welcoming for years to come. Leading to the dining spaces, two staircases were also fitted with contract vinyl and carpet using black rubber nosing, adhering to health and safety requirements, with a practical area of Dorian matting at the entrance for guests to wipe their feet on entry.

Championing community, and in preparation for the new football season, we are proud to have recently installed new flooring over at Gainsborough Trinity Football Club. Fitted through the home and away changing rooms, we supplied and installed Polysafe Standard hydro safety flooring over a total area of 100 square metres, in both changing spaces and showering areas. Combining the assurance of sustainable slip resistance with high durability for years of performance, this flooring incorporates safety aggregates into the vinyl to create a safe yet attractive interior for commercial and residential settings.

Fitted with sit on skirts in the changing areas, and capped and coved in the wet room areas, this new installation of flooring has revitalised these spaces, offering a clean, welcoming and safe place for home and visiting players to prepare and reflect, at the home of the world’s oldest single ground team. New year, new job? Here at Horsleys we currently have three job vacancies available, both part time and full time, for fulfilment at our independent retail stores based in Gainsborough. Further details of these positions (flooring fitter, warehouse operative and sales assistant) can be found below. Flooring Fitter: A vacancy has arisen for a full time fitter (or a team of fitters) to complement the experienced team here in our busy flooring department. The successful applicant will be competent with carpets and vinyl, and also sub-floor preparation. Ideally, but not essential, the successful applicant will also be able to fit luxury vinyl tile and safety flooring. The candidate also needs to deliver a high level of customer service and be well presented. Our rates are very competitive and payment is made promptly.

Warehouse Operative: We have a full time vacancy in our warehouse, working from Monday to Friday. Duties in this role include (but are not limited to) unloading and loading of heavy items, from goods vehicles into our warehouses, loading on to delivery vans for distribution, and when required, customer facing helping our delivery team to deliver items, as well as stock keeping and waste control. This job is physically demanding and would suit a fit and strong individual that is self-motivated with willingness to work, as well as being well mannered and presented. Wage is the national living wage.

Sales Assistant: We have a part time (flexible) position available within our in-store sales team. The successful applicant will be required to work across all departments in our showrooms, helping customers with the pre-sales process, enquiries and providing general assistance, wherever necessary. This position will be a minimum of 8 hours per week (Mondays 10am to 3pm and Fridays 10am to 3pm) but we would need the applicant to be flexible to cover other staff holidays, including Saturdays (mainly in the school holidays). Wage for this role is the national living wage.

With a heavy heart, the Horsley family are devastated to inform our customers of the sudden and sad passing of Stuart Horsley yesterday. Many of you would have had dealings with Stuart through the years, a much loved and well-respected man whose character has brightened our shop floor for generations. The family and team here are heartbroken to lose Stuart. He will very much be missed.

We are back! With careful consideration for our staff and the local community and after following advice, from Monday 1st June our showrooms will be open again to the public. To allow us to operate safely, both of our stores have now been equipped with PPE stations on entry and exit, and contain masks and hand sanitisers for you to use before you enter, during your visit and as you leave us.

The floors in our showrooms have also been marked with appropriate social distancing markers, along with directional arrows to keep shoppers separated whilst browsing our ranges. Just a quick update from the family and team here at Horsleys of Gainsborough. We hope you are all keeping well and haven’t forgotten about us! On the 23rd March we saw the sudden overnight closure of our stores, in line with the government restrictions on retail spaces. Following Sunday evening’s announcement, our stores will remain closed to the public until at least the 1st June.

However, with careful consideration for our staff and the local community, we are now in a position to offer our customers the purchase of essential items, with strict social distancing measures in place and the full use of PPE at all times. From today our products will be offered for either non-contact collection or doorstep-only delivery. Our stores will remain closed for the foreseeable future, pending further guidance from the government and health organisations, but in the meantime we have implemented processes and procedures to provide support to our customers from afar. From today, our phone lines will be manned remotely between the hours of 11am and 12pm, where we will be happy to arrange priority deliveries, take payments and answer any questions you may have about our any of our products or services. In light of the extended impact of Coronavirus, our priority continues to be the well-being of our customers, employees and partners, and we are committed to ensuring that our stores and deliveries operate as usual in the safest way for all. We would like to reassure customers that we are taking all necessary steps to follow the guidance given by the government and health organisations at this time, implementing processes and procedures to minimise the risks for everyone.

Our stores work to high standards of hygiene, and we are now also following government guidelines on preventative measures and deep cleaning in the light of the virus outbreak. Hand sanitiser is provided in both our main showroom and bed shop, and all of our products and surfaces are being cleaned regularly with anti-bacterial wipes and disinfectant cleaner. We are also encouraging the use of cards rather than cash; our card machines are sanitised regularly.

Both of our stores are currently open as usual, pending further direction from the government, and we continue to be committed to getting deliveries to you quickly and in the safest way possible.
